A blog can bring steady traffic from Google and support your service pages, but only if each post is planned and optimised. Many business blogs publish regularly yet get little traffic, because posts target no keyword or answer no real question.

Use this process for every post.

Before writing

1. Pick one main keyword with real search demand that relates to your services.

2. Check search intent: look at the top results. Guides? Lists? Comparisons?

3. Collect questions from “People also ask”, customer calls and WhatsApp chats.

4. Decide the target service page this post will link to.

While writing

• Title (H1): include the keyword and a clear benefit

• Introduction: answer the main question within the first few lines

• Headings: one subtopic per H2; H3s for details

• Depth: cover what the top results cover, then add your own experience, local details and examples

• Formatting: short paragraphs, lists, tables and images

• FAQs: three to five real questions with short answers

• Call to action: link to the related service and invite enquiries

SEO details

• ☐ Title tag of about 50–60 characters with the keyword near the start

• ☐ Meta description of about 140–160 characters that earns the click

• ☐ Short URL slug with the keyword

• ☐ Internal links to the service page and two or three related posts

• ☐ Links from older related posts to the new one

• ☐ Compressed images with alt text

• ☐ Article and FAQ schema

• ☐ Author name and bio

After publishing

• Share on Instagram, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and your Google Business Profile

• Submit the URL in Google Search Console for faster indexing

• Check performance after four to eight weeks

• Improve titles for posts with high impressions but low clicks

• Update posts that rank on page two with more depth and better internal links

Update old posts

Refreshing an old post that already has some rankings is often faster than writing a new one. Update facts, prices and dates, add sections, improve the title and add internal links.

Topic ideas that work for business blogs

• Cost guides: “How much does … cost in Coimbatore?”

• Comparisons: “X vs Y: which is right for you?”

• Checklists: “10 things to check before …”

• How-to guides

• Mistakes to avoid

• Local guides relevant to your services

Frequently asked questions

How often should a business blog post? Consistency matters more than frequency. Two to four quality posts a month is a good target.

How long until a blog post ranks? Often two to six months, depending on competition and your site’s authority.

Should every post target a keyword? Yes. Posts without a clear topic rarely bring search traffic.
